Final Fantasy 16 Demo Coming Two Weeks Before Launch

Square Enix has confirmed that a demo will be made available for Final Fantasy 16 roughly two weeks before the game launches.

In a new interview with Famitsu magazine (translated by Genki_JPN), Final Fantasy 16 Producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that Square Enix’s upcoming RPG will be receiving a demo roughly two weeks before the game launches.

While it hasn’t been confirmed just yet, Yoshida is working to ensure that save data from the demo will carry over to the final title. It’s not exactly clear what will transfer, but you can expect story progress and likely some of your leveling to make it into the main experience.

With Final Fantasy 16 releasing on June 22, 2023, that would put this demo at or around June 9. If Square Enix can get this demo save data working, it will be nice to see that you can safely invest time into this sample offering and not have it go to waste. More games should feature save data transfer, though Square Enix has already done this with Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy, and Bravely Default 2.

Yoshida also states that he would like to do a more combat-focused demo that will let players come to grips with Final Fantasy 16’s new take on battles. That might wind up being a bit redundant with the main demo coming, but it could also release sometime after the game launches for any late adopters.
