Gearbox Introduces Us To What Homeworld Is

The Homeworld Remastered Collection is just under a week away from its release and Gearbox is starting to push the game more than ever. This time they are trying to expand the Homeworld audience to people who haven’t had the opportunity to play the original. In a Youtube video posted today, they are able to successfully wrap up the goal of Homeworld and how it’s played in about 5 minutes.

In this video they explain the importance of the mother ship and where you are going. They also go over all the types of ships that are created, what they are used for, and what their strengths and weaknesses are. They even go into detail of using Resource Collectors to harvest resources and placing Resource Controlers near them so the Collectors don’t have to fly all the way back to the mothership.

All in all, they did a good job explaining each type of ship. However, I feel they skipped a very important one, this being the Salvage Corvette. This unit allows you to tow enemy ships back to your mothership and allow you to take control over them. There is nothing more horrifying than having a slow large frigate ship and seeing a swarm of Salvage Corvettes coming after it. Once they have enough Salvage Corvette’s latch on to your frigate, you will lose control of your frigate regardless of its health. It’s very hard to have a good time after that.
