Ever wondered what an acid trip would be like without actually dropping acid? Robin Arnott, inspired by his own LSD trip, provides just that experience with his game, SoundSelf, paired with the Oculus Rift.
Wearing the Oculus Rift and a mic headset, the “player” makes a sustained sound that then reacts with the game, creating audio-inspired fractal imagery. Changing the pitch and volume of your voice affects what colors and shapes emerge.
I could see this game being used for meditative purposes or for drug-induced joyrides. Either way, it is an interestingly psychedelic experience that shows off even more possibilities for Oculus Rift integration.
Check out their video explaining SoundSelf in more detail when they were running their successful Kickstarter campaign.
