Did anyone really expect Nexon to publish a Ghost in the Shell MMOFPS? Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Online: First Assault (that’s a mouthful) was first announced a couple years ago, and the game had all but fallen off the radar. The game is so far off the radar that publisher Nexon launched closed beta signups two weeks ago without much of a peep.
Despite the game’s clear connection to Ghost in the Shell and the series’ international acclaim, including featuring characters from the series like the Major, Nexon is leaning toward referring to the game simply as First Assault.
First Assault is an MMOFPS featuring characters and abilities from the Ghost in the Shell series, including augmenting skills with other players. Not much else is known, since the first closed beta launched yesterday. I personally am awaiting my beta key.
If the trailer is to believed, First Assault doesn’t look much out of the ordinary in terms of modern FPS titles. We’ll have to see just how well it does the series justice as the first closed beta pushes on, and hope there’s more to be excited for than what’s shown in the trailer. You can still sign up for CBT on the official site if you’re just as curious as I am.
