Ryan Davis of Giantbomb has passed away.

This occured on July 3rd and there is no real information as to HOW it happened.

The worst part is that he was married for less then a week at the time of his death.  My heart goes out to his now widowed wife and his family and friends.  I can only imagine the hurt Jeff Gerstmann is also feeling at the passing of his best friend.

I just learned of this and despite the immense outcry on the web for the loss one of Game Journalism’s greatest contributor, I felt a need to put in a few words myself.

Ryan Davis along with the rest of the Giantbomb crew are my reason for my passion for game journalism.  They all inspired me to be open and clear about my critiquing of games as well as sticking to your guns and not falter on your opinion.  Ryan gave me a standard and goal to reach so that one day I may be able to shake their hands and join their ranks.

Working with them both would have been one of the greatest honors to me and sadly, that day will never come.

You have done so much for so many and left such a mark on the world.  Giantbomb will never be the same and you will never be forgotten.
