Bethesda, the publisher of DOOM, has announced that a free demo version of the game is available via download throughout E3 week. The demo features the first level in the single player campaign.
DOOM is a first-person shooter generally regarded as a return to form compared to the originals. Controlling “Doom Guy”, players gradually amass an evermore powerful assortment of weapons to defeat the remnants of Hell — a number of different species of demon hell bent, if you’ll excuse the pun, on demolishing anything and everything.
Weapons include: an assault rifle, shotgun, handgun and several other fan favorites. Utilising powerful firearms isn’t the only option, however, because there’s also a deep melee system featuring plenty of gruesome finishing animations. Using the melee system introduces another of the game’s intriguing systems — the ability to restore the protagonist’s health by bashing enemies to death. Now, that’s making an impression.
The DOOM demo is available throughout E3 week and can be downloaded from the Steam Store on PC, the Xbox Live Store on Xbox One, or the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 4.
