If you look around crowdfunding websites such as IndieGoGo, you can find some fantastic and imaginative games from indie developers. London-based devs Fossil Games, recently found success using the platform to fund their 16-bit retro inspired horror RPG, titled Camp Sunshine. The game has been in development for 18 months but Fossil Games needed to look to crowdfunding to help with costs including voice and audio recording.
The game follows a guy named Jez who gets dropped off at summer camp, which takes a terrible turn for the worse when he awakes to find that the killer, Isaac Illerman, has come back from the dead and is acting out his revenge on the other campers.
Camp Sunshine is packed full of fiendish puzzles and all the twists and turns you’d expect from a “murder mystery”. You have to take Jez all over the camp, exploring the buildings and surrounding areas to try to piece together why Isaac is killing everyone.
The game has all the sights and sounds of a retro 16-bit game and is sure to please not only those who love retro but also those who love the horror genre.
Camp Sunshine is set to be released on PC, Mac and Mobile platforms. Date and price are yet to be confirmed.
