IGF finalist Nidhogg has received positive critical attention since 2010, and in more recent years, has been declared the Indiecade 2013 Game Design Winner. The super-pixilated dueling game is a fast-paced “fencing tug-of-war, full of graceful acrobatics and clumsy stabs.” The 2D side-scrolling stages stretch in both directions, allowing a wide expanse for two players to frantically, or strategically, fence, parry, and stab. If outmaneuvered and left swordless, players can also resort to melee combat.

Nidhogg makes its commercial début with both local and online multiplayer and tournament modes, as well as a single player arcade mode. The Steam version of the game also features both controller support and Big Picture Mode.

Nidhogg also features a soundtrack of dynamic music from musician and producer Daedelus, offering music that is “unique with each play-through.”

The game is currently available at 20% discount for the next week, bringing the price down to $11.99 for one copy of the game, or $21.59 for a two pack.
