Two reputed European retailers have listed a November 13 release date for Playstation 4.
Though Sony has confirmed a Holiday 2013 launch window, the company has issued no formal release date. And yet, NeoGAF reports that Media Markt outlets in The Netherlands and Austria are advertising promotional posters in-store bearing a Wednesday, November 13, 2013 release date.
Dutch online retailer Bol.com also carried the same date earlier today, and lists Xbox One as a November 21 release. Henri-Alexander, moderator on budgetgaming.nl, the Dutch equivalent to sites like CAG, has said he’s received promotional material from Sony that confirms the November release date.
Media Markt is one of Europe’s largest retail chains for consumer electronics, if not the biggest. It was the first to report the iPad’s release date in Sweden in 2010, a fact Apple then reluctantly confirmed. The retailer originally posted the PS4’s November 13 release date on its website, but has now changed it to a placeholder of “December 31”.
If the news holds true, then following previous trends, PS4 will likely hit North America around the end of October, before Black Friday. At this point, Sony is giving only a cryptic response of “Holiday 2013” when asked for comment.
Releasing alongside will be Sony’s first-party titles like Killzone: Shadow Fall and DriveClub. Third-party titles Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Watch Dogs and Call of Duty: Ghosts are also slated to release at console launch.
