Destructoid has reported that the new multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game Infinite Crisis is headed to the Major League Gaming (MLG) Pro circuit. The developers behind Infinite Crisis, Turbine Inc., are expected to officially announce the news at this year’s E3 conference.
In a press release, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the parent company of Turbine, shared its excitement to be able to bring eSports to its newest game.
“Through the partnership, the Turbine and MLG teams will introduce the game to the MLG and eSports community, develop competitive settings, showcase the game at forthcoming eSports and gaming events, feature competitive play on MLG: Play, MLG’s online gaming destination, and ultimately include Infinite Crisis at MLG Pro Circuit competitions.”
Jeffrey Steefel, the Executive Producer for Infinite Crisis, shared his thoughts on the new partnership.
“MLG’s platform and expertise in the eSports arena are unparalleled,” Steefel said. “We look forward to working closely with MLG to introduce players to the DC Multiverse and building a world-class gaming community.”
The heads of MLG are equally thrilled about having another game that pro gamers can latch onto and compete.
“Our new collaboration with Turbine is a great example of how we can work with top game developers to introduce their games to the robust MLG audience and grow the eSports community worldwide,” said Sundance DiGiovanni, the CEO of MLG.
Infinite Crisis is the newest entry in the DC comics universe. The game will be free-to-play and feature gameplay similar to League of Legends or Dota 2, but with a DC comics twist. While the game will include many of the fan favorites such as Superman, Batman, or Flash, it will prominently feature characters that made appearances in one-off storylines. For example, a player may battle with Nightmare Batman from the Nightmare storyline while the other player uses Joker from Gaslight. These types of characters are what will set Infinite Crisis apart from other MOBA games.
Although the game is currently in closed beta, you can register for a chance to play it by going to their website.
