One of ChAIR Entertainment’s senior quality assurance testers has listed on his LinkedIn CV a previously unannounced Infinity Blade 3 for the iPhone.
An official announcement has yet to be made, but ChAIR co-founder and creative director Donald Mustard did previously imply more Infinity Blade content would be created following the cancellation of Infinity Blade: Dungeons last month:
“There’s more that we at Chair are totally planning to do with the Infinity Blade universe. More games, more books, maybe even other products. And we are very excited about that.”
Infinity Blade was first released in December 2010, and its sequel a year later in December 2011. The series has been regularly lauded for its impressive graphics on a smartphone, and the first title was the fastest-grossing app in the history of iOS. The Infinity Blade franchise, which now includes a novella, a separately marketed soundtrack, and an arcade adaptation, has since surpassed $30 million in sales a little less than two years ago.
Perhaps worth noting is the fact that Apple’s iOS 7, coming out this Fall, will officially include third-party game controller capabilities. While the touch controls for the previous incarnations of the series have been tight and well-received, it may be interesting to see Infinity Blade 3 arrive with controller support as well.
Infinity Blade 3 will likely be announced at the Apple mobile reveal press conference in Fall.
