Today, the musical phenomenon that is Iron Maiden released their RPG mobile game Legacy of the Beast. The game is free-to-play and is available through the App Store and Google Play. The band’s management team, Phantom Music Management, has been working closely with Roadhouse Interactive to bring fans the ultimate heavy metal mobile gaming experience.

The game features the band’s iconic mascot Eddie (also known as Eddie the Head) venturing through a world inspired by the music and artwork of Iron Maiden. He comes up against other characters from the band’s back catalog, such as The Beast and The Wicker Man, in a quest to find the shards of this shattered soul.

“We’ve always wanted to make a quality Maiden mobile game as we think the combination of Eddie and the music is so well suited – and it’s a great way to get our music out to a new audience!”

— Steve Harris, bassist and co-founder of Iron Maiden

Eddie has been a part of Iron Maiden since 1980, and is featured on almost every piece of album art the band has released. One of the most famous depictions of Eddie is of The Trooper, where he is wearing a red coat uniform as part of the historical Charge of the Light Brigade.

Check out the official gameplay trailer below and let me know what you think. Are you an Iron Maiden fan? Which version of Eddie do you most want to see?
