It’s Finally Here: Steam Summer Sale 2014 and Summer Adventure

Arriving just on time as the Steam Summer Sale date leak predicted, Steam is chock-full of new and amazing deals as well as another summer adventure for its users.

Steam’s current daily deals are starting off strong with some promising titles including:

• Don’t Starve
  
• Dead Rising 3
  
• DayZ
• Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
• And more

That’s not all, Steam is also bringing back their infamous flash sales, updating every 8 hours. The four current deals on the Steam Summer Sale so far are:

1. Dead Island: Riptide
   
2. Devil May Cry
3. Hotline Miami
4. Mirror’s Edge

Most importantly, the Summer Adventure is back, and with it some great new prizes including free games.

How’s the Steam Summer Adventure work?

First off you start with five different teams. Each person is assigned a team, and each day a team is designated the winner based on the amount of points they have. There’s a few ways you can earn points:

• Crafting the Summer Adventure badge (10 points)
• Crafting the Summer Adventure foil badge (100 points)
• Crafting any other game’s badge (1 point)
• Crafting any other game’s foil badge (10 points)

Crafting the Summer Adventure badge not only gets your team points and a chance at some amazing free prizes, but also gets you some extra content as well:

• 1 in-game item or 5 for the foil badge
• 1 emoticon
• 1 profile background
• A chance at a team token which is used for swapping teams

So you might be wondering what the benefit is for your team winning? Each day, if your team won that day, 30 members of that team who contributed points will receive 3 free games from their wishlist. In addition, everyone who contributed points will receive 2 bonus Summer Sale cards. On the chance you didn’t happen to win, your entire team will still receive a consolation prize of 1 bonus Summer Sale card.
