Former Steam Director Jason Holtman took a job at Microsoft to head its restructured PC gaming division. After only 6 months, he’s left, and with no more than a peep on the way out the door – via a status change on LinkedIn.
Back in 2013 during a slew of layoffs at Steam, Jason Holtman held the position of Valve’s Director of Business Developement and left. He then became employed at Microsoft to head up the PC gaming efforts. In August, Holtman told Games Industry International:
“Yes, I have joined Microsoft where I will be focusing on making Windows a great platform for gaming and interactive entertainment… I think there is a lot of opportunity for Microsoft to deliver the games and entertainment customers want and to work with developers to make that happen, so I’m excited to be here…”
Fast forward to February 12, 2014 (6 months later) and Jason Holtman leaves Microsoft. According to Joystiq’s updated response from Microsoft:
“We can confirm that Jason has left Microsoft and we’re grateful for his time at the company. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
