Avalanche Studios uploaded a new unboxing video showcasing the bonus prizes within Just Cause 3 Collector’s Edition. A scowling Rico Rodriguez looks on as two members of Square Enix’s marketing department present the promotional items promised back in early July.
Need a bit more than that to satisfy your new release cravings? Lucky for you, the most recent hype includes some pretty pictures. The unboxing contains an Xbox One exclusive, and we don’t want to leave PS4 users feeling left out. To fill that gap, PS4 owners just got another stunning sneak peek at the colorful and immersive graphics of Just Cause 3. NeoGAF user nbnt shared direct-feed screenshots of the native 1080p world, presenting vibrant fields and sky-diving action.
Collector’s Edition follow-up
For those who need a little more than screenshots and trailers to keep them satisfied, two members of Square Enix’s marketing department cracked open a Just Cause 3 Collector’s Edition box for its first official unboxing. This demonstration gives players seven reasons to shell out $109.99 on the game package, available for both PS4 and Xbox One.
#1: Day One Edition of Just Cause 3
The marketing pair open up the case for viewers, revealing disc art that features maniacal dictator General Di Ravello. Di Ravello is affectionately described as an “evil, evil man” with a very “dictator-y” appearance.
#2: Weaponized Vehicle Pack
This DLC content only comes with the Day One Edition of the game. It includes:
- Combat Buggy
- Mini-Gun Racing Boat
- Rocket Launcher Sports Car
The bonus pack’s description details each of the three vehicles:
“Knife through the Medician waves with the Mugello Delphino GLF with the finest brushed Italian leather seats and subtle dual miniguns. Taking its name from the Russian wolverine, exude adventure with the all-terrain Urga Pocomaxa X4 vehicle, especially when that adventure requires mounted machine guns. For the more refined combat professional, drive the Kerner Serpente R12 with precision rocket launchers elegantly engineered right into the hood.”
#3: Win-an-Island Contest code
While it’s likely you won’t be driving a real rocket launching sports car anytime soon, you may well wind up on your own island. That’s right, the biggest promotion for Just Cause 3 awards the best player with a real, honest to goodness private island.
A packet included in the disc case will feature a code on the bottom of its front cover. Players must enter this code on the website listed inside the packet, which will then encourage gamers to earn as many Chaos Points as possible in a 90-day period. You earn Chaos Points by blowing things up (military bases, outposts, towns, rebel factions, etc.) in the “most creatively destructive way possible.” The player who earns the most points gets the island, meaning quite a bit of work goes into the contest.
Time to get your sick days in order, if you even have any left after Fallout 4‘s release!
#4: Xbox One game exclusive Just Cause 2 download
All Xbox One versions of the title will include a digital download of Just Cause 2. Play for nostalgia purposes or experience the previous installment for the first time.
#5: Just Cause 3 art book
A hardcover art book included in the Collector’s Edition features 32 pages of vehicles, weapons, characters, and environmental shots. Avalanche Studios Creative Art director Zach Schläppi wrote the book’s foreword, shedding light on the work and process behind the game’s art.
#6: 24″ by 24″ poster
This poster’s double-sided surprise gives players more than a map. One side presents Rico Rodriguez mid-air with a scene of wanton destruction completing the backdrop.
The flip side acts as a companion tool for players. The map of the Mediterranean archipelago of Medici includes an informative key in the bottom left corner and cites the location of every town, village, and outpost gamers will need to find.
#7: Grappling Hook
In March of 2015, over 50,000 votes determined a highly anticipated addition to the Collector’s Edition box: a replica of Rico Rodriguez’s signature grappling hook. This item requires some assembly, but an instruction sheet will keep players on track.
The 15″ replica boasts authenticity, portraying the detailed, distressed look of a well worn tool. One side of the grappling hook even contains Rico’s digital read-out display.
Let’s end the exciting news with those pretty pictures.
Just Cause 3 runs at native 1080p and 30 fps on the PS4, while the game will run at 900p on Xbox One. NeoGAF user nbnt’s screenshots offer a visual guide to exactly what those specs translate to on-screen for PS4 users. The result includes a fresh look at the fictional Mediterranean city, Medici. With over 400 square miles available for exploration, stretching from sea bed to skyline, players can look forward to a rich open-world experience. Enjoy the amazing draw detail below:
Just Cause 3 launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC December 1st.
