Fans of the Darksiders series will be excited to hear former Vigil Studio veterans and co-founders, Joe Madureira and Ryan Stefanelli, at work making a new game under a new name: Airship Syndicate. Battle Chasers: Nigh War will be inspired by classic JRPGs, such as Final Fantasy, mixed with randomly generated dungeon exploring, and compelling storytelling.
The game will be set to release for PC and Mac via Steam or GoG. However, there are stretch goals to bring the title to consoles such as Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Also in light of Darksiders all backers will receive an exclusive item by the name of Chaoseater, the very weapon of War.
About the Game
Inspired by JRPG greats such as Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Chrono Trigger, and Phantasy Star. The game will feature a management hub, called Harm’s Way, where you will choose three heroes, from the many you collect, while equipping items and equipment to prepare for your journey ahead.
There will also be an overworld similar to many classic JRPGs, where you will explore hidden dungeons, rare bosses, and randomly appearing friends and foes.
Battle Chaser’s classic combat screen
The combat will feature classic turn-based battles with a unique two-tier mana system. Battle Screens look very dynamic and should play out as a great experience. Airship Syndicate is hitting every classic JRPG trope while giving some western flair. They are also featuring randomly generated dungeons loaded with Traps, puzzles, and other exciting secrets. You’ll also be able to harness your unique heroes abilities. Making proper party management a must.
The game will feature slick and vibrant story cutscenes, while also offering story driven lore from items, locations, and characters. The game will feature the following characters shown below (as featured on the Kickstarter page):
Battle Chasers looks like one great game, the Kickstarter goal is $500,000, that will hopefully breath new life into the classic JRPGs. All while also inspiring more western developers to make more classics like so. If you would like to learn more about the game visit the Kickstarter page here: http://kck.st/1VKMk84.
