LEGO Dimensions launched yesterday on many systems, but also with a large promise of at least three years worth of support.
The support from TT Games will range among levels, characters, and wide-spread content.
A hopeful promise
It was announced this past weekend at EGX 2015 that TT Games has planned to support LEGO Dimensions until at least 2018, but plan on going above and beyond. Mark Warburton of TT Games told Eurogamer that they have no intention of stopping support in 2018, and feel that they could continue to add more content over the years.
“We’ve created the toy pad so that it shouldn’t need to be updated,”
“and we can just create new level and character packs to keep expanding that.”
– Mark Warburton, TT Games
LEGO Dimensions falls under the group of toys-to-life gaming that is also embodied by Disney Infinity, Skylanders, and amiibo based games. By using the figures as a way to play LEGO Dimensions, TT Games could continue to release characters and levels through the physical figurines for many years to come.
All that is required for implementation is creativity and level design.
Launching yesterday with special features
Yesterday on September 27th, LEGO Dimensions made its debut on various systems bringing many new characters to the LEGO world. Among the starter pack for LEGO Dimensions, three figures including Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle are included. There was also a new wave of figures coming out this past weekend including The Simpsons and Back to the Future, along with plans for waves coming out in November, January, and March.
If you want to delve into the world of LEGO Dimensions, it’s available on the PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
