Swords are among the coolest of stereotypical geek swag. A real sword, not just a display or costume piece, is a work of metalworking art. The exercise of this ancient art is rarely applied to video games or movies in more than a commercial sense, creating barely functional conversation pieces that will bend and break if ever actually used to try and cash in on fans of the original game or show.
Man At Arms does not make those kinds of swords, they make the real thing. They ask their viewers on YouTube what weapon they would like to see made next. Their fans have spoken, and they have made Leona’s Zenith Blade.
The video shows off the process they use to craft the sun paladin’s signature weapon, and it honestly is interesting to watch. I know just enough about metalworking to appreciate how difficult the ring in the blade is to make solid in a weapon of that size.
Even watching the process does not quite prepare for the actual use of the weapon at the end, slicing through milk jugs, bamboo, and watermelons with clean cuts every time.
