[Livestream] EVE Online Live Event to “Protect Civilized Space” Likely to be a Bloodbath Involving Hundreds of Spaceships

Watch live as hundreds of EVE players slaughter each other in the spectacle of combat.

EVE Online‘s emergent gameplay often plays out on a grand scale and tonight at 1850 UTC (1350 Eastern, 1050 Pacific), a live event is taking place which will likely result in a significant amount of explosions.

[Post-event update: As predicted, it was a bloodbath, with numerous disorganised fleets of high-sec capsuleers being fed into a spaceship meatgrinder as null-sec alliances blockaded gates leading to the event site.]

The event and the stream is now over, but the storyline outcome of capsuleer failure to stop the threat is not yet apparent.

For those who can’t make it, tune into the livestream below.

What’s Going On?

In EVE Online‘s New Eden Today in-character news, a call from the security forces of New Eden’s protected high security space has asked player ‘capsuleers’ to amass at two points in high security space in preparation for a “massive, sustained assault on high-priority targets.”

Kilkkuken Mallen, Chief Intelligence Operative for CONCORD, said, “We are currently unable to provide details on the target, as this would represent a significant security risk in the operation. However, this threat is considered extremely high to all law-abiding citizens of New Eden. We ask that any capsuleer who wishes to protect civilized space gather up at our two rally points in Sarum Prime and Meves on November 7 for departure at 18:50.”

A subsequent message was published, hinting that resistance is expected.

“We have reason to believe that our assault on this threat to New Eden will be met not only with open hostility, but with a cold and calculated counterblow,” said Kilkkuken Mallen, CONCORD representative. “There are powers at work here that do not have the best interest of New Eden at heart, and they are gathering their forces as we speak. We fear we will have to deal with considerably greater opposition than originally expected, so we implore capsuleers yet again to side with the forces of all that is right and just – and, again, leave all the cleaning up to us.”

Meanwhile, in EVE‘s non-RP news, CCP has mischievously pitted the less storyline-focused null-sec contingent with a similar call-to-arms for those who dwell in the lawless regions.

The empires of EVE Online are launching an assault tonight at 18:50. But their targets are not simply going to sit by and let that happen! They’ve put out their own call to action for anyone who wants to fight the power of the empires! If you’re devious and wicked enough to fight against the forces of good in New Eden, go to systems FD-MLJ or Utopia at 18:50 onward and join the fleets there!
