The Pokémon Company International has announced that the newest Pokémon mobile game, Magikarp Jump, is now available for free download on iOS and Android devices

In Magikarp Jump, players will catch their very own Magikarp, then feed and train it to maximize its jumping potential to become league champion. If a player’s Magikarp gets knocked out of contention or retires once they reach level 20 — the level Magikarp would normally evolve into Gyarados — the player will start the game over with a new generation of Magikarp. This new generation will start its life a bit stronger than the last, encouraging players to continue training their new Pokémon as they progress.

According to the press release, some Pokémon will either stop by to help players out while raising their Magikarp — or interfere with a Magikarp’s training. They’ll do this by either giving Magikarp food to help with its nourishment or other items along the way. Other Pokémon may swoop in and take Magikarp away when they get the opportunity.

Magikarp Jump also features optional in-app purchases, which can help speed training, replenish food, and catch more Magikarp. Decor can also be purchased to decorate and customize a Magikarp’s habitat.

Magikarp Jump is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is the fifth mobile game based on the Pokémon franchise and the first to be released since Pokémon GO in 2016.
