Mew-Genics.

Mew-Genics is a game that revolves around hoarding and cat-breeding, although its filled with much more than that. Players breed cats for certain physical traits — although each have their own individual personality.

  • Cats that are skinnier and more aerodynamic are better suited for races.
  • Players can enter more bulky and muscular cats in fights.
  • Beautiful cats might win pageants.
  • Cats can also be born with genetic deformities and diseases!
  • Sometimes cats can develop desirable or undesirable mutations — such as horns, or fork-tails.
  • Different mutations can show bonuses like higher HP and players can breed these into all of their cats!

The current number of cats in Mew-Genics is 25,418,658,283,290,000,000,000,000! And that’s based on physical traits alone! It doesn’t include differences like sizes, animation sets, stats, and personality.

[Kittens are] assigned cat types based on its stats. There is a large range of cat types from lazy to sexy, from passive to psychotic. [And] each cat type comes with its own set of animations, moves and other visual effects, but most important is that they also effect how the cat behaves.

In addition to cat-hoarding, you have a house that you fill with items like furniture and decorations. Players buy these items at Baby Jack’s store (who is trying to free his hoarding mom).

Baby jack runs the “hoarders R us” store in Mew-Genics, selling his nona’s “collections” in order to remove her from the self-imposed tomb she currently resides in just beyond the stores wall.

Some items randomly hold special abilities — but all of them do something. Every item in Mew-Genics has a special property depending on what the item is. According to the Mew-Genics blog:

Clocks manipulate time, healthy food raises hp and your cats hunger threshold, spoiled food or trash raises the chance of strays visiting your house, microwaves and other radioactive items raise mutation chances, evil items raise aggression and sometimes damage. The number of things your furniture can effect is amazingly high, from all the cats stats, disease rates, money you start with, money you gain, life span, libido, fertility, mail rate, store discounts, room in your house… and your cats’ identity!

There are so many aspects to this game that I can’t possibly spell out everything. All of the information seen here I read on the Mew-Genics Blog, so if you are interested in finding out more, go check it out! After AetherThe Binding of Isaac, and Super Meat Boy, I cannot wait to see what this game has in store. What do you think? Do you think it will be as good as Super Meat Boy? Tell me in the comments section!
