The upcoming Minecraft movie that will be hitting the big screen is finally coming together. Mojang announced today that Rob McElhenney will be in the director’s chair.
The Minecraft Movie
After Warner Bros. obtained the rights to the game in 2014, they decided it would be prime time to work on a cinematic picture, featuring this famous sandbox game that has been modded by many users over the years. The game which is identified as action/adventure with the hostile mobs, and includes creative building blocks, gives the director many options to work with and plenty of scenarios.
The man behind the camera
Rob McElhenney is famous to many, as he was the director, creator, writer, and star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He will be able to bring a fresh view into this wonderous game, having plenty of experience behind the scenes. Based on his Twitter activity, he also seems very excited to have the job.
It was rumored last year that Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy would have the position but I guess Warner Bros. changed their mind.
What do you guys think about this director choice?
