The most successful indie game of all time is coming to the Playstation 3 this week. Minecraft developer Mojang announced that you will be able to download the game this Wednesday the 18th from the Playstation Store.
The Playstation 3 version of Minecraft will be virtually the same as other console ports of the game, and the versions will be “developed in tandem from now on,” says Owen Hill of Mojang. “Downloadable skins and texture packs will be available from Playstation Store soon after release.”
As for Remote Play? Even Mojang doesn’t know if that will be a feature. It also doesn’t appear that the title will be Cross-Buy.
Minecraft has sold an astonishing 30 million copies to date, and is available on PC and Xbox already. The game has been called the “ultimate sandbox,” and allows you to experience a wide variety of play opportunities — including exploration, creation and adventure.
Mojang has previously announced that Minecraft will also be available on the PS4 and the Vita, but there are no specific release dates for those two ports.
