Mojang’s Minecraft franchise is making another appearance on the Wii U — this time in the form of Telltale Games’ Minecraft: Story Mode. The first episode, titled “The Order of the Stone”, will release on January 21st. The rest of the episodes will arrive “later this month,” according to Nintendo.
Telltale Games brought their unique brand of storytelling to the Minecraft universe in October 2015, which released to pretty good reviews across the board. The game has you play as “Jesse” (who can be male or female) and sets you out on a quest with your friends to search for the Legendary “Order of the Stone.”
Telltale is “tremendously excited” to be releasing on Nintendo’s console, and allow new players to “craft their own adventure across the Minecraft universe.” The title will allow for off-TV play, and will support touchscreen controls that allow you to “guide the story directly” whenever it’s needed. The release of Minecraft: Story Mode builds upon the recent arrival of Minecraft on the Wii U during mid-December.
The first episode will cost $4.99, with a Season Pass available for episodes 2-5 that will be priced at $19.99.
