The folks at Mojang are far from putting Minecraft out to pasture. In fact, their upcoming July 1st update may require a pasture or two.
When the update’s pre-release hits next week, PC players will be able to add riding animals; namely horses. Horse armor is also being added to not only customize your new ride but help protect it from the many enemies roaming about.
Many players have already been using the Simply Horses Mod for over a year. But, Mojang’s official update adds mules and donkeys to their growing list of livestock.
Mods at High Noon
The official addition of riding animals already gives conjecture if players will begin creating worlds and mods that feature horses. Imaginations of knights in battle or a posse of cowboys in pursuit of bandits immediately spring to mind.
But, also the addition of riding animals could evolve into mods featuring countless varieties of large, riding beasts: dinosaurs, jungle creatures, dragons, etc.
Call Off the Search
Another item in the 1.6 update is the removal of Herobrine, whose presence in the game was always the subject of conjecture, let alone his existence in the game at all. The stance however is that the mention of removing him from the game in 1.6 is a prodding joke.
Herobrine is in effect, an urban Minecraft myth since no code referring to him has ever been found in the game at all.
