Beyond: Two Souls, the forthcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive from Quantic Dream, is shaping up to be a great game. The game stars Ellen Page as Jodie Holmes, a girl with a link to a mysterious entity. Quantic Dream has shared some information regarding the gameplay.

The game spans 15 years of Holmes’ life, and is being marketed as “an emotionally charged journey unlike any video game before”, and last Tuesday Sony released a gameplay trailer which details how Quantic Dream is aiming to accomplish their goal. You can watch the video below.

One of the most important goals was to make the game interface as invisible as possible. David Cage, Quantic Dream’s head, said that they “didn’t want the interface to be a barrier” and gameplay lead Caroline Marchal further states that it is a “very discreet interface with only white dots on screen and very simply controls”.

Another difficult challenge was Aiden, the entity to which Holmes is connected. As a ghost of sorts, Quantic Dream translated the idea into a pair of glowing orbs that, when brought together by the dual analogue sticks, act as a focusing method for Holmes. “I wanted to have these new mechanics with Aiden”, Cage explained. “I wanted to give this feeling of flying around and going through matter and walls.”

Beyond: Two Souls will release on October 8, 2013, exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
