Meanwhile, over at PAX Prime, Bioware took some time off from their busy schedule of taking my money to stunt the competition, showing off some pretty impressive gameplay of the upcoming Dragon Age III: Inquisition. (And of course, further notifying me that, yes, they will be taking even more of my money.)
BioWare’s Mike Laidlaw and Mark Darrah revealed during a panel at PAX Prime that DA3 will include a “tactical view” function, which will allow players to seamlessly shift to a top-down view at any point during a battle, which is a throw back to Dragon Age: Origins. With the game ‘frozen,’ players will then be able to issue commands to their companions before hitting action and returning to the game’s standard over-the-shoulder, third-person perspective.
The game also looks pretty darn fly, as it is currently running on DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine, which will now allow for the environment to be virtually destroyed, a first time for a Dragon Age game.
Thanks to DA3 being delayed to Fall 2014, not only do we now get to play as Qunari, everything looks pretty darn spiffy, it’s back to old school tactics, we can explore a wide world, and not to mention boss agents around as the man in charge. Uhh, what’s not to like here?
Peep the trailer for a dragon, a flaming sword of awesome, and some really bangin’ environments. In the meantime, hang ten; Dragon Age: Inquisition won’t be hitting your next-gen consoles until Fall 2014.
You guys like what you see or what?
