New Nether Multiplayer Gameplay Video Released

Nether is an upcoming video game being developed for PC by Phosphor Games and is meant to compete with the famous Arma 2 mod, DayZ.  Nether is meant to focus on blending player vs. environment and player vs. player gameplay, and the gameplay footage looks interesting. 

The gameplay video only runs a little over two minutes in length but shows off the game’s dreary atmosphere and showcases how critical teamwork will be for survival. The group in the video is running as a group of four players and effective communication is crucial to survive. 

Now, it is important to note that the video is from the Alpha version of Nether so it is by no means finished product, but the game looks good so it will be interesting to see what kind of improvements the developers make.

What is Nether?

For those that have not heard about Nether until this point, the game focuses on an apocalyptic event known as “The Cull”.  The event happens as human DNA begins to mutate and it begins to turn humans into the monsters the game is named after. Some humans are not affected by the mutation and those are now the survivors that players will take control of.

Players will need to worry about scavenging for supplies while trying to avoid running into the Nether. Phosphor Games have developed the Nether to be a dangerous enemy that players will want to avoid due to their high level of aggression. Players are able to defeat the Nether but with limited supplies they will want to do so with caution.

Nether does not have an official launch date at this time but Phosphor Games has confirmed that there will be a beta so players can test out the game.  The beta is set to release sometime near the end of October, and is something that fans of the survival-horror genre might want to look into.
