Today at Sony’s Gamescom press conference we got word of a new horror game by the name of P.T., along with a demo, which released today on the PlayStation Store. What we did not know was that P.T. was actually a teaser for a new Silent Hill game.

At the end of the P.T. (playable teaser) demo, you see a figure walking down a dark and gloomy street. As the figure continues walking, two names appear on the screen: Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima as well as director Guillermo del Toro. The figure turns towards the camera, revealing Norman Reedus, who is best known for his role as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead. The screen fades to white while Akira Yamaoka’s Silent Hill theme song plays, revealing the title of the game: Silent Hills.

Silent Hills is under development by the fictional 7780s Studio at the moment. The true development team for the game has not yet been revealed.

This is not the first time that Kojima has pulled this sort of trick. He did the same with Metal Gear Solid 5. He had announced the game as The Phantom Pain, and claimed the game was under development by the fabricated developer Moby Dick Studios.

Below you can see a replay of the end of the P.T. demo, including the reveal, done by SoapyWarpig.

The demo itself has gotten us excited for this project. It was creepy as hell, and had me on the edge of my seat. It has the flair and atmosphere that made the original Silent Hill games so great, and has the sense of dread and fear that I love. If this demo is an indicator of what to expect for Silent Hills, we are looking at a good and frightening time ahead.

There is no word on which consoles Silent Hills will appear on, or when we could expect the game to release.
