Australia has finally joined the rest of us in allowing for games for adults. Their new R18+ rating, relative to North America’s MA-17 and Europe’s PEGI-18, was finally instated on January 1st. Australian gamers won’t have to wait long for their first official title meeting the requirements for the R18+ rating — Nintendo’s got them covered with Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge.
The Team Ninja-developed game will be published by Nintendo in the Australian market. NG3: Razor’s Edge brings back the gory combat that the series is known for that the original version of Ninja Gaiden 3 lacked. It’s a pretty suitable first game for the R18+ rating.
It’s interesting that Nintendo would be this title’s publisher considering the company’s emphasis on being family-friendly.
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge was released in North America on November 18, 2012, and the game was just recently released in Europe on January 11. The Australian release date has yet to be announced, but it shouldn’t be too long as the game in its entirety has been approved by the Australian Government Classification Board.
