Capcom has announced Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and people are eagerly looking forward to hearing more definite releases from the gaming giant on Nintendo’s latest console. While they’ve announced that there are more games coming, a revelation that came as a result of a question someone asked on Capcom’s forums about Resident Evil.
The user in question wanted to know if and when they could expect a port of Resident Evil 6 for the Wii-U, to which Capcom Senior VP Chris Svensson replied, “With regard to WiiU, in general we’re looking forward, not back so late ports are generally not on the table.”
Ominous…
The statement crosses out the possibility of much of Capcom’s current generation of gaming coming to the new console, without giving much of a reason. The most obvious reason would seem that Capcom is focusing its resources on creating the next versions of the various games that are affected. This seems entirely likely given the company’s history of releasing new versions of their games within sometimes frustrating proximity of the original release, even converting DLC into an entirely new release.
At least with Resident Evil 6 he was able to confirm that the port isn’t coming because they started production before they knew about the Wii-U. Keep listening for future Capcom releases.
