Though VR has a lot of potential in the games industry, much of it remains untapped in the multiplayer genre. But developer Omnigames has announced that it’s developing an MMORPG VR experience — with a twist. Dubbed Age of Heroes VR, this upcoming game will allow teams of up to five players to take on MMO style raids and use teamwork to overcome multistage boss fights.

This prospect alone might excite many MMO fans, but that isn’t all that Age of Heroes has to offer. Rather than the invisible bodies used in most current VR games, this multiplayer experience will have full body avatars instead. The game is also introducing a system known as “actual body movement” — which means that in order to perform in-game actions like casting a spell, players must actuate the command by moving their bodies accordingly. This is intended to help create a more immersive experience while also combating dreaded motion sickness.

Of course, this could be problematic for users with small spaces. But according to an official statement from Omnigames, they’re already working on options that will make this more accessible to all players:

“In Age of Heroes, you need actually move your body like squatting or quickly side-stepping to avoid attacks and boss abilities. If you’re worried about room size or other problems, you can set different game configurations to finish all these movements in a slight body reaction. It will be fun and feel real!”

Hopefully Age of Heroes will be able to live up to the potential of VR and provide enough content to feel like a true MMO experience. The game will be available on the three major VR platforms — HTC Vive, Oculus, and PSVR. It will also support cross-platform play across all those devices.
