Blizzard has announced that the closed beta for Overwatch will return with new content. While there are few details, several new maps and a new game mode were mentioned.

To include this new content in the next round of testing, the original release window of late January has been pushed back. Players can look forward to new content around mid-February.

Game Director Jeff Kaplan made the announcement on the Overwatch beta forums..

“After looking through all of the feedback from last year, one of the things we noticed players consistently mentioning was their desire for more game modes in Overwatch, in addition to Point Capture and Payload. Without getting into specifics, we are working on a new game mode. And we’re very excited about it! And we have some great new maps to support it, too, but we need a little more time to get everything just right.”

The change in schedule isn’t so surprising. The fact that Blizzard is listening to feedback and working to honor fan requests is appreciated. Why rush out another round of beta if they know there is still more they can improve? Let’s hope this round of testing is as entertaining as the first.
