PlayStation 3 users wary of using their credit card on the PSN after 2011’s massive security breach now have a new payment option: PayPal. Along the convenience of this new payment method comes a new way to deposit money to your account.
Instead of using PayPal directly from the PSN storefront, users must log into the Sony Entertainment Network and purchase $5, $10, $20, or $50 worth of credit toward their PlayStation Network account.
The process is similar to paying for games on Steam with your PayPal account, though you are directly adding money to your PSN wallet. Once done, you will have the money available to use on your account. It might be a bit of a hassle, but it ensures that your payment information is secure.
This service has been available in Europe for some time. I can’t help but wonder if it will ever make its way to the Japanese PlayStation Store, but it’s not likely.
On the topic of the Japanese PSN…
I noticed a few weeks ago that the Japanese storefront still has the old layout. What’s up with that? I miss how easy the old layout was to use. No lag, easy to navigate, and you could download free content without having to go to the check out. The new layout is the opposite of user-friendly.
