Not everyone can make the trip out to LA to the Electronic Entertainment Expo, but Sony wants its fans to experience the E3 experience. So instead of just live streaming the show, Sony is also bringing their E3 press conference to the silver screen.
Here’s the best part! Over 40… yes, 40 theaters in select cities will be showing the conference, and it’s free. All you need to do is go to the official site to register and print yourself off a ticket. Here’s the list of available venues.
The “PlayStation E3 Experience,” will also feature a 30 minute after show hosted by Geoff Keighley. There you’ll see developer interviews and extended game footage.
Also, the video teases fans with a special “gift” for those who go to the “Experience” at a theater. What this gift could be is anyone’s guess.
The PlayStation press conference will take place on June 9th at 6 PM PST.
This year, only Microsoft, EA, Sony, and Ubisoft will be giving press conferences at E3. Nintendo will be taking their “Nintendo Direct” approach again this year, but they are also hosting a Smash Bros. tournament at the expo.
I don’t know about you all, but I like to watch E3 from my couch with a bag of popcorn that doesn’t cost $6. What is Sony’s motive? Why offer this for free to fans when it clearly will cost them buckets of money? Your guess is as good as mine.
