Niantic recently announced a big new Raid event for Pokemon GO, which will include a chance for high-level Raid bosses, extra Raid events, and Shiny Lapras.
The Extraordinary Raid Week begins on Tuesday, May 21 at 4 p.m. EST/1 p.m. PST. It ends at the same time on May 28.
During the event, GO players will get double the amount of Raid Stardust and Raid XP. Plus, they’ll have a chance to take on a number of Raid bosses, including some of the most powerful Pokemon in the game so far.
What follows is the list of potential Raid bosses. GO players should keep in mind that Raid bosses have perfect IVs, and this is a good opportunity to track down some more elusive Shiny Pokemon as well. Pokemon that may be Shiny are included in italics.
Tier 1:
- Machop
- Slakoth
- Shinx
- Bronzor (Note that Bronzor is a new Shiny Pokemon)
Tier 2:
- Misdreavous
- Kirlia
- Mawile
- Feebas
- Clamperl
- Bibarel
Tier 3:
- Alolan Raichu
- Chansey
- Scyther
- Aerodactyl
- Floatzel
Tier 4 is where the big hitters are, though.
Tier 4:
- Alolan Marowak
- Dragonite
- Tyranitar
- Absol
- Metagross
Tier 5 is a bit more special, since it’s region specific:
Tier 5:
- Uxie (Asia-Pacific region)
- Mesprit (Europe, Middle East, Africa, India)
- Azelf (North and South America, Greenland)
The so-called Dinner Raid Hour is making its return as well. It will be on Wednesday, May 22, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (local time). It’s a chance for an extra Raid, useful for those Raid passes burning a hole in trainer avatars’ pockets, and Niantic said all Gyms in the local area should hatch a random Egg at the same time.
Finally, Lapras Day will be Saturday, May 25, in the Americas, Greenland, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and India from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and the following day at the same time in the Asia-Pacific region (local time again).
Lapras will be joining Raid battles during that time, and there’s a chance players will encounter its Shiny variety as well. There’s no need for concern about Raid Passes either, since all players will receive five free Raid Passes during the event.
Both Lapras forms will have two special legacy moves only available for that day: Ice Shard and Ice Beam.
Considering Lapras was only made available on a limited basis, first at Safari Zone Sentosa and then in the wild via special Research Tasks, this is a fairly significant event.
