Sony’s flagship, the PS4 has recently launched in Europe, and all that extra activity nearly took the PlayStation Network offline. Sony had to take measures to prevent the PSN from going down including disabling the use of the following features:
- Voucher and Key Redemption including
- PS3 to PS4 Upgrade codes
- PS+ codes
- Game and DLC vouchers
- PSN Wallet Cards
So if you’ve been having difficulty with codes, blame Sony. Multiplayer, purchases and downloads, trophies and all other PSN features are still online at the time of writing. Some users may be experiencing issues logging in.
We are aware some users are experiencing issues logging into PSN on PS4 due to the heavy traffic we are receiving, we’re investigating.

The influx in network activity is likely due to all the new PS4 owners attempting to download the 1.51 system update which enables most of the console’s features including blu-ray playback.
