WHAT COULD IT BE?!
No seriously. Hiro Yamada was quoted saying that Retro Studios will be putting out a new game, and that they will “introduce it in the not too distant future.” Really, REALLY hazy info there, but with Nintendo’s latest statement about how they don’t plan to be attend E3 this year, it could be sooner than we think.
If you aren’t familiar with Retro Studios, they have made a slew of games you may have played. Their most recent would be Mario Kart 7 and Donkey Kong Country Returns. For me though, I remember them for their work on the Metroid Prime Series. I still want to replay the classic titles. I regret selling my Gamecube to a coworker in another state, and I miss it dearly.
Quite possibly my favorite Metroid title to date.
What could it be though? That’s the real question. Well, there aren’t any hard facts yet, but there have been all kinds of hints. A new F-Zero title is most likely, thanks to the famous tweet from about a month back. But some other titles would benefit greatly from a round with Retro Studios. Legend of Zelda, Mario, who knows? Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing another Metroid game, especially after the botched job that was Metroid: Other M. Euuugh. Still makes me feel dirty to say that name.
