Rumor: Shin Megami Tensei 5 Release Date Could be This Fall

It's completely unconfirmed and just a rumor, but Shin Megami Tensei 5 could launch before the end of the year.

We might have a better idea of the Shin Megami Tensei 5 release date thanks to a new rumor Persona Central spotted. The rumor, reportedly pertaining to a Nintendo E3 2021 leak, has Shin Megami Tensei 5 releasing November 11 and also outlines a few key aspects of the game’s plot.

Note that, as with any leak, E3 or otherwise, the information here is completely unverified until Nintendo or Atlus officially confirm it. So we’ll just have to wait and see.

Shin Megami Tensei 5 starts when a normal high school student wanders into the world of Da’ath and “fuses with a mysterious man,” becoming a being called Naobino. A Naobino is some kind of forbidden being destined to play a role in the fight between gods and demons.

It’s all very Shin Megami Tensei 3, even down to Da’ath being a desert world. Demons roam the ground and sky, attacking any humans they come across. The protagonist can fight them alone or with other demons. The leak says Shin Megami Tensei 5 has over 200 demons, a larger demon compendium than SMT 3, but potentially a much smaller one compared to SMT 4‘s 400+ roster of demons.

The Nintendo E3 2021 presentation airs June 15 at noon EST, so we’ll know soon enough how true the rumor/leak is. Meanwhile, if there’s a distinct lack of demonic goodness in your life right now, we strongly recommend giving the Shin Megami Tensei 3 remaster a try.
