Sean Plott, also known as Day9, announced today that he will be working with Artillery Games to create a unique, triple A-quality game that “…will run in-browser with virtually no load time.”
From Artillery Games:
It is with great pleasure that we welcome two of the greatest minds in the gaming business to Artillery: Sean “Day9” Plott as our Head of Gaming and Eric Burkhart as our Head of Growth. Eric and Sean will continue the daily operations which have made Day9TV such a success, and Sean will be designing the first title on the Artillery platform.
Plott is a famous caster and community figure in eSports, including his incredible experiences in the Starcraft II universe. He holds his Day9 Daily… well, daily, which is geared towards analyzing and improving SC2 play–Fridays are Day9’s Day Off, where Sean plays various games like The Last of Us and Half-Life 2 (tomorrow) for his ever-growing audience.
One of my favorite Day9 dailies.
Artillery set out to do the impossible: to have graphically intensive, triple-A games load quickly and run smoothly in the browser. After gently explaining to Ankur why the idea was technologically infeasible, he pulled out a laptop and showed me an already working demo… on a laptop getting a signal from tethered phone.
“Want to make a game?” he asked.
You can sign up for notifications and progress reports over on Artillery’s website, and you can check out more of Day9’s shows on his Twitch channel, or his website!
