A collaboration between two unlikely forces was announced in the recent Nintendo Direct presentation, namely Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. The trailer shown during the presentation doesn’t tell us much, but the possibilities certainly are exciting. Another exciting title heading to the Wii U this year.

The trailer shows several key characters from both franchises, ending on a screen that looks like it’s more down SMT‘s alley than Fire Emblem‘s.

This brings up so many questions. How did these characters come together in the first place? How can the Fire Emblem cast compete against the more modern-equipped Shin Megami Tensei characters? What type of game is it? Why is there no Raidou Kuzunoha among the SMT characters? (Atlus, please.)

More questions than answers here, but it’s great news for SMT and Fire Emblem fans alike because the game is seeing a release on the Wii U instead of the usual handheld release. Hopefully we hear more from Nintendo or Atlus on the premise and release of Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem soon.
