Nintendo is having a rough time. The Wii U appears to be a flop and they’re talking about licensing out their legendary mascots.
The Gaming Industry is Competitive, but Nobody Wants the Iconic Company to Die
That’s because the overall video game industry could take a big hit.
According to a new interview at TrustedReviews, Sony UK managing director Fergal Gara said Sony doesn’t want to see Nintendo’s decline:
“[The decline of Nintendo] could be detrimental to the market, unless people like us raise our game and help tap into the younger consumer group that they serve rather well. That is the challenge to us. We need to bring maybe more family-friendly, more casual experiences into the market. I think there’s a big market segment there that we should take the challenge to engage and I see lots of potential to do that.”
Nintendo posted its third straight annual loss and said the Wii U and 3DS had failed to hit internal expectations. They’re also on the record saying they’ll consider different business perspectives.
Nintendo’s not going anywhere… they can’t
They just can’t. It would suck without Nintendo. I haven’t bought one of their products in a long time but I know what they stand for, and I like it. No true video game lover wants Nintendo to go away. They may not have games I really want anymore, but their influence is undeniable.
