Square Enix and Mediatonic have just released a new concept video detailing the features in their upcoming game Heavenstrike Rivals.
According to Square Enix producer Masanori Ichikawa and Mediatonic co-founder Paul Croft, Heavenstrike Rivals combines elements of Eastern and Western game design.
Set to be released on iOS and Android devices, Heavenstrike Rivals takes place in the aerial kingdom of Lunnain which has been pushed to brink of ruin by the Fallen, monstrous creatures attacking from the skies above.
The game includes over 200 collectable characters and a multi-player feature that makes use of real-time strategic battles.
Players will fight back against the Fallen in a quest to save Lunnain and the Seven Sisters of legend.

In an interview with 148Apps, Ichikawa noted that the game also includes contributions from designers known for their work on other Square Enix games such as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Final Fantasy XIII:
First off, it’s important to stress that this game was created in partnership with Mediatonic. To give an example, myself and Ryoma Ito (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance), the main character designer, spent many days over in England at Mediatonic’s offices.
We got a staff member who was involved in level design for the Final Fantasy XIII series to serve as director of the work we did on our side in Japan, and when the team in England heard Ryo Yamazaki’s (Final Fantasy XIV) music they were very excited.
While currently in the beta phase, Heavenstrike Rivals is set to be released worldwide later this month.
