Square Enix is on the right path with their approach to western releases!

Square Enix will include all DLC for Dragon Quest Heroes on disk for western release

Square Enix is on the right path with their approach to western releases!

It seems that Square Enix might be on the right path in the way they approach marketing products to the West. While Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below, as well as the entire Dragon Quest saga, has had success in the East, western fans of the series crave to get their hands on any IP that they are lucky to have thrown their way.

It seems Square Enix’s approach to the October 13th launch is an indicator of what is to come from the company.

The game’s success in Japan called for story-based DLC that continued the tale after the main quest was completed. For the western release of the game in October, Square Enix plans to include all DLC on the disk at launch for players to enjoy free of cost. Some of the extra “episodes” include:

  • Alena’s Episode
  • Bjørn Battle
  • Great Demon Lord Zoma Battle
  • Nokturnus Battle
  • Psaro Battle and Playable Character – Saro the Manslayer

This news coupled with the well-received release of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 by western audiences hopefully means good things for Square Enix’s approach to spreading their games outside of Japan.

Is there a Japanese studio you wished would be more inviting towards western audiences? Let us know in the comments!
