Star Wars Squadrons Mandalorian DLC Coming October 28

With the release of The Mandalorian Season 2 just a few days away, Star Wars Squadrons is getting a new batch of free DLC to mark the occasion.

Star Wars Squadrons wasn’t supposed to receive any DLC. Still, less than a month after launch, that’s exactly what the space combat simulator is about to get in a free update centered on The Mandalorian. And yes, the content add-on smartly includes Baby Yoda. How could it not?

Though the DLC won’t include new story missions, ships, or multiplayer maps — you know, the more substantive expansion content Motive meant when it said no post-launch add-ons — it will bring a handful of new holograms, decals, and flair to the game.

Aside from the adorable Baby Yoda dashboard flair, the DLC includes hanging flair, dashboard flair, decals, and holograms. Both the New Republic and the Empire will receive four vanity items each with which to customize the inside and outside of their fighters.

The Mandalorian Supply Drop DLC will be available starting on October 28 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. There’s no word when the content will go live that day or what size the update file will be.

Star Wars Squadrons released on October 2 and quickly became one of my favorite games of 2020. Harkening back to the halcyon days of X-Wing and Tie Fighter, Squadrons updates an old formula for modern audiences, all while keeping long-time fans like me smiling from ear to ear.

If you’ve yet to play the game, consider giving my review a look to see if it might be for you.

As for The Mandalorian, Season 2 will premiere on October 30 on Disney+. The highly-anticipated second season continues the story of Djin Djarin and The Child. A number of cameos have been rumored for the season, with some pointing very heavily toward several prominent Star Wars luminaries (I won’t say in case you haven’t heard the rumors or seen the show’s IMDB page).

Stay tuned for more on Star Wars Squadrons. Hopefully, EA will continue to support the game and reverse course on its no-Squadrons-DLC policy.
