Gamers looking to play Stronghold Crusader 2 this year just got some important news. If you plan on playing the sequel to Stronghold Crusader, you’re going to have to install the Steam platform to play.
This decision could be for the best considering Firefly Studios indicated they have limited resources and need help to get all the development work done on Stronghold Crusader 2. Developing a modern video game isn’t like the old days when four people could develop in their free time. Today, it usually takes more than a few programmers and artists. This is actually good news, since I am sure it will mean the video game is better in the end.
“As an independent developer our resources are limited. For the majority of the Crusader 2 project we have had two full-time programmers and two artists working on the game… That said we still want Crusader 2 to have all the cool and convenient features players expect from a modern RTS and a true sequel to the original Stronghold Crusader. We can handle much of the game just fine on our own, so the game’s skirmish mode, AI, single-player campaigns and other core gameplay systems such as co-op have been tailor made by Firefly. However secondary features like achievements, game invites and gameplay stats will be powered through Steam, where the majority of our players come from.”
This decision is also wise from a business point of view, because you definitely don’t want the video game development to take to long. Hopefully, this way, Stronghold Crusader 2 will arrive on schedule, unlike other titles we have all played; gamers will play Stronghold Crusader 2 in 2014. According to Firefly Studios, the video game will also be available on store shelves in some regions of the world. Firefly Studios didn’t provide any specifics on the particular regions the box version of the video game will be available.
