NIS America has announced a new Japanese tactical RPG coming from Kadokawa Games. Dubbed God Wars: Future Past, this upcoming game will be released for both the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita. Strangely, though, it will launch in the West before its Japanese release in April 2017 — North America will get the game on March 28 of this year, with Europe getting it on March 31st.

God Wars will be getting both a digital and physical release at the same time.

The game is a historical turn based tactical RPG set during ancient Japan, which combines ancient Japanese history and mythology based on the events illustrated in Japans oldest historical record book The Kojiki.

In addition to the Isometric view on the battle maps, Kadokawa has added a gameplay system called “Impurity”.  Impurity builds up as your character attacks enemies and heals during battle, therefore becoming a target.  The player will be required to manage the Impurity to gain an advantage which adds another layer of strategy on the battlefield.

Those familiar with the Disgaea series and Final Fantasy Tactics should feel at home with God Wars.

Are you in the mood for a new tactical RPG? Will you be picking this up on the Vita or PS4? Let me know in the comments!
