Remember that interview I did with the developers of an indie game called Tangiers?

Well recently I was contacted by Alex Harvey, one of the original developers, and he wanted to tell me that him and his partners are going to be crowd sourcing the game.  Curious, I went to their Kickstarter page to see what they were asking for.

£35,000 is their goal.

What is that money going towards?

They go into detail on there but here is the skinny: Some of them have left their jobs to make this game full-time, bills need to be paid and more money means a better game.

In all honesty, this seems like a fairly meager amount considering what development cost are now a days.  I honestly can see how this is mostly going toward these guys being able to eat and not worry about bills till the game is done and this all benefits you as well.

Rewards?

£10 ($15.22) will get you the game which is a pretty good deal.  We also have soundtracks, beta access, tee shirts and all leading up to the largest donation only one person can donate.  For £5,000 ($7617.00) you can get a rad custom-made mask, get to sit down to dinner with them and get every game made by them EVER.

With this news they even came with a pre-Alpha phase gameplay short of what the game sort of looks like and will feel like.

There is still a ton to be done as he stated in the video and they seem to be on a good track as well.  The video does seem to have a few janky things happening but they acknowledge is and took it all in stride.

Check out their progress on their site as they update often.  They also seem really excited to hear from others with an encouraging word as well as get some support!
