Tekken 8 Lili Trailer Brings the Salt

Everyone's favorite rich girl returns to the ring when Tekken 8 releases in 2024.

Man, it’s a good time to be a Tekken fan. Namco Bandai has revealed the next member of Tekken 8‘s roster, and it’s a returning favorite: Lili, or Emilie De Rochefort if you’re feeling fancy. Lili first appeared in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and has appeared in every Tekken game since.

Lili is Tekken 8‘s “Fighting Heiress.” She’s snobbish and flippant, with superficially good manners, though she often considers herself superior to other people. Basically, she’s a typical rich kid. She’s also had something of a one-sided, comedic rivalry with Asuka.

Her father is famously a pacifist, so Lili’s fighting style is self-taught, combining elegant, dance-like movements with gymnastics, so you’ll see her doing lots of kicks and flips in her trailer. We also got a look at her cat, Salt, who looks to fit in prominently in her introduction and win sequences.

Lili’s Rage Art is like a dance, emphasizing a highly choreographed series of attacks as she deals blow after blow to her “partner,” before ending it with a backflip that showers the stage in rose petals.

Lili is the latest character to flesh out Tekken 8‘s launch roster, joining the recently announced Leroy and Asuka, and returning favorites like Jack-8, Jun Kazama, and Ling Xiaoyu.

Tekken 8 is scheduled to release in 2024 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Stay tuned for more trailers on new characters and gameplay changes as we get closer to release.
