About AbleGamers
The AbleGamers Foundation (and Charity) is a nonprofit public charity that “aims to improve the overall quality of life for those with disabilities through the power of video games.”
They are the largest community for gamers with disabilities in the world. In 2015 so far, they have raised over $350,000 of their $500,000 goal.
The AbleGamers team follows a three-step approach for helping make today’s titles accessible:
- They consult with AAA and indie game developers in making titles as accessible as possible to gamers.
- They regulate guidelines of includification for gamers with disabilities & rate games by these guidelines for their accessibility.
- They offer grants to those who create assistive technology for the gaming community.
A note from the founder, Mark Bartlet states:
“I believe that there is nothing more powerful for people with disabilities than the freedom that only videogames [sic] can provide. It is an art form that allows us all to run, jump, and be whatever we want to be.”

Donate
You can give to AbleGamers during the Minethon via this link.
This charity event is funded through the ImRaising.tv website which accepts credit/debit card, PayPal, or Bitcoin. Like other donation pages, you will also be able to add your name and a special message to the team.
To donate even after the event is over, you can access it via this link. Or if you wish to donate via PayPal, through this link.
This donation process is through wedid.it. This helps with crowdfunding for nonprofits. It allows for options of one-time, daily, monthly, or quarterly donations.
Spread Awareness
You can find the entire stream at the AbleGamers Twitch.
Even if you can’t donate, you may be able to share the stream and/or donation link to your friends, family, and over social media. People become aware of this event and charity and eventually someone who can donate will find it.
Even after the event is over, you can always buy some merch and spread the word thereafter! Get shirts and plushies at their shop, here.
Join the AbleGamers Minecraft Server
All you need to do is make a small donation of $5 toward AbleGamers to get your account whitelisted onto the 500-player server.
After that, there’s only one question: Are you #TeamPig, #TeamCreeper, or #TeamOcelot?
More information about AbleGamers can be found on their website. If you are a gamer with disability, a caregiver of a gamer, or a developer of games, AbleGamers will have information there to further assist you in getting involved.
If you wish to become a volunteer for AbleGamers, there are multiple ways you can do so. To sign up as a volunteer or to see volunteer options visit their website’s volunteer section here.
